Campaigns (available only to Registered users), one of the most exciting features in Mythos, are optional user-defined adventures that are seamlessly integrated into the normally random Mythos landscape.
A demo Campaign, GuyDead Toore is provided with the locked version, and demonstrates the abilities of the Mythos Campaign Forge, now nearing completion.
The Campaign Forge gives you the ability to create whole adventures with customized graphics, Oracle questions, Talk dialogs and special objects not normally found within Mythos.
Campaigns also have a Legend and Lore to provide information to you concerning each Campaign prior to actually entering it..
Legends offer general background information about the Campaign, and may give specific information about goals, hints, advice, etc. These can be obtained in Taverns.
Lore is comprised of individual bits of information about a Campaign, maybe true, maybe not. Lore is known by various creatures and you Talk to them to learn it.
Campaign modules are installed simply by dragging the new Campaign file into the Campaigns folder. When initially entering any Floor, Mythos scans the contents of this folder and loads any and all applicable Campaigns.
A Campaign will always appear on one given floor in one given World. Currently, a maximum of eight Campaigns per Floor per World is allowed. The actual placement of the entry point for any Campaign on a Floor will always vary.
MISSIONS
Missions are optional semi-random goal-oriented mini-adventures that, like Campaigns, are seamlessly incorporated into the current random game parameters. A mission might be to rescue a princess from a dragon, bring the head of a werewolf to the King, or whatever.
Unlike Campaigns, Missions take place in the main floors and rooms - they do not have their own separate maps and scenarios. Generally, they are goal-oriented mini-adventures you can engage in to aquire extra gold, items, etc.
A prototype, The Lost Amulet is included, and can be found with the Barkeep in the Tavern in the Greek/Roman World. Missions will (shortly) have "pointer" clues for Talk options that passersby can give to lead you to a creature with a Mission.
The Mission Forge software is under development...when completed, it will be made available to registered users.
